Slimming with Green Tea

Saturday, November 29, 2008 |
Many have found advantages in drinking green tea, simply because green tea is rich with catechins, a powerful antioxidants that can fight viruses, slow aging and have great benefit on health.

It is no doubt that green tea is good for health, but what about weight lost. Can green tea help in loosing weight?

Well green tea is able to Lower cholesterol, Increase Thermogenesis (the body's rate of burning calories) and Enhance fat oxidation. The high concentration of catechin polyphenols (EGCG) helps oxidize fat and increases the amount of calories burned throughout the day for all activities. However this does not mean that you will see weight changes right after you drink Green tea.

In the long run, drinking green tea will help increase your metabolism rate and hence slowly burn of your fat safely and naturally.

Try using green tea as a health supplement instate of a weight lost diet as the benefit of green tea is much more then burning your fat. It also can help prevent cancer, and reduce the aging process.

Try making tea drinking a daily habit by choosing the convenience time to drink, like reading the newspaper or watching TV. Preparing a cut of green tea is easy either; just drop a tea bag in a cup of hot water, wait a few minute and your green tea is ready.

Check out my previous post on 5 easy way to lost weight, green tea is one of it.

I have found that it is the simple things like drinking green tea that help me lose weight. I don't stick with the hard, complicated things.

Green tea has several benefits, but I am not sure there is evidence for all the ones you list....

@ Emily

What kind of evidence you are looking for. Well as mention, it is not a remedy to lost weight, is a supplement that have the capability to reduce FAT. I look at green tea at his health benefits agent.

Since I don't like the taste of green tea, I was taking a supplement for several weeks, and I found that it gave me insomnia! Talk about disappointing.

I love green tea. I've never seen results for helping me lose weight, but I know it's full of anti-oxidants, and I like the way it tastes, especially the honey lemon flavored one. :)

i love green tea. i didn't know it could help increase metabolism, though, which i have found is one thing hindering my weight loss. i'll have to start drinking it more often now.

Funnily enough we had a cup of green tea about half an hour ago. We like it because of the health benefits associated with it. I like to put a drop of honey in mine to sweeten it. It is also nice with a dash of lemon.

Thanks for the information, Over a year ago I changed from drinking coffee to green tea and I did lose around 6lbs. This was suggested in one of the health books by the author Dr. Pericone, I am sure I spelled the name wrong but he was showcased on Oprah.

Okay, after reading a different blog and a different post about tea drinking this one really caught my eye. I've gone in and out with green tea, but... assuming it really brings on weight loss, I'm willing to give it a go. I've lost 8 with what I believe again 10 will put me back in my "prime" just by counting calories. But if adding a good cup of green tea will help, I'm all for it! Thanks!

Great info... I just don't care for green tea personally. My son swears by it.

I personally don't care about the scientific evidence for anything natural. Whatever Mother Nature bothered to create is (in my mind) beneficial and perfect - and good for something or someone. I drink green tea because I like it - if I wouldn't - there are so many other herbal teas available it's hard to decide which one to enjoy... :)

I enjoy green tea- particularly the toasted varieties (hojika and genmaicha). I don't follow all of the weight loss rules of thumb but there is good information on green tea helping w/weight loss in conjuction with other habits being changed as well. Like you said- it's an easy one!

Hi, I have not heard of green tea pill. Does it have the same purpose as drinking green tea ?

I don't care for green tea myself, I much prefer water. I hadn't heard that green tea altered the metabolism.

Surely a 'green tea pill' is a bonkers idea... tea is meant to be water-based.. there are plenty of other delicious and nutritious alternatives to green tea... why do we always look to pills to sort ourselves out?

I think Green Tea is very good and refreshing. If it aids in weight loss ...all the better!

A whole array of anti-obesity pills and medicines are available in the market that helps you to trigger off successful weight loss but the weight loss diet pill Xenical is somewhat different as it prevents around 30% of the fat you take from being absorbed in your system. This further leads to less fat accumulation and ultimately weight loss becomes a reality. For more details on Xenical, visit the website http://www.weight-loss-truths.com
